C.C. Buford. In 2009, CC, daughter of former SA Spurs GM RC Buford and former LPGA Tour Player Beth Boozer Buford came to me after her junior year of high school and said she wanted to try to play college golf. At that point, she had only played golf a handful of times spread out over two years. She was the SA Express-News volleyball Private School Player of the Year that season. College golf seemed almost impossible, yet with a tremendous work ethic, a passion for the game and success, and an enormous amount of raw talent, the College of Charleston gave CC an opportunity to walk on, redshirt, and practice with the team. This season, I’m proud to say CC played in numerous collegiate events on the 1st team at College of Charleston. This summer, CC won the Austin-Collegiate Players Tour event and is the current point leader on the Collegiate Players Tour. Amazingly, CC qualified for the US Women’s Amateur this summer where she shot 78-71=149 and missed qualifying for Match Play by a single stroke.
Jimmy Walker. Although I no longer work with this 14 year pupil, Jimmy had an incredible career with 6 wins on the PGA TOUR. In 1999-2000 Notah won 4 times on the PGA TOUR, 2nd only to Tiger Woods in wins during that time frame. Notah’s 2000 season culminated with his earning a spot on the President’s Cup Team where he and Tiger Woods defeated Vijay Singh and Ernie Els twice in team competition. Additionally, Notah defeated Retief Goosen in the Singles Competition. At the end of 2000, Notah injured his back in a weightlifting accident and is now commentating for NBC-TV and The Golf Channel.
Dorothy Delasin. While working with me, Dorothy won 5 times on the LPGA Tour and also combined with Jennifer Rosales of the Phillipines to win their country’s 1st World Cup in golf.
Other PGA & LPGA Tour Professionals: During the past several years, I had the extreme privilege of helping 6 men earn their PGA TOUR Card. I can honestly say that is my most proud accomplishment as an instructor. While working with me as a teacher, Notah Begay, Jimmy Walker, Cameron Beckman, Kris Cox, Jeff Klein and Mac Meissner all earned their playing privileges on the PGA TOUR.
I have also worked with PGA TOUR players David Ogrin and Champions Tour Player Ronnie Black.
